Due to the rapid increase in local covid-19 cases, we have decided to cancel Riverside 5000 this year. We are not comfortable that we could put on a safe, quality event, and so we have made this difficult decision. Hopefully we will be able to give it a run next year.
The Riverside 5000 is a fun, flat, and fast 5km race. With the biggest prize purse in Green Country, we have always had some smoking fast times in the “Elite Race.” This year we are combining the Elite and Open races, but we are still offering the same prize purse for the first 5 male and female finishers (males must run sub 17 minutes and females sub 20 minutes to qualify for the $). Combining the first two races with a 7:30 start will let us run the 18 and under race at 8:15 to get off the hot asphalt and out of the hot August sun a little bit earlier.
7:30am Elite/Open Race – This race is for is for adult runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Same prize money as previous years Elite race for the first 5 male and female finishers coming in under 17 minutes for the guys and 20 minutes for the girls. It is run on a two loop course. Prizes will also be given out to runners who finish in the top three in standard USATF age groups. Note – Kids 18 and under should compete in the second race unless you receive approval from the race director. Entry for this race is $25 and includes the event t-shirt, $30 Race Day.
8:15am Open Race Age 18 & Under Race – This race is for kids 18 & under and is run on the same two loop course as the Open Race. Entry is free with a non-perishable food donation for the Jenks Community Food Bank IF you pre-register at Tulsa Runner or through your cross country coach. Race day registration will be $10. The race tshirt is not included, but you can buy one separately for $15. We’re trying to encourage the kids to pre-register to minimize race day congestion. If an Adult wants to run in the 18 & Under race to run with their kid we’re fine with that, but adults will need to pay $25 entry fee and will receive a shirt. Adults in the 18 & Under race will not be eligible for any age group awards.
Coaches will need to register their teams on Enduro USA. PLEASE only register runners you are fairly sure are going to show up and run, because we pay for the timing tags we assign based on preregistration. If you just have a couple kids to register you can do that at the store. Team registration is due by 11pm Wednesday August 11th.
Packet Pick-up is at Tulsa Runner starting Wednesday August 11. Race day packet pick-up and registration will be on the northwest corner of 96th and Riverside beginning at 6:45 AM.
T-shirts will be available for sale for $15.
